Mission Accomplished

I'm a little surprised, but nonetheless proud to report that I've finished all four gift projects I had on my list for the month.

1. Dashing/Neal/Christmas DONE
2. Baby Kimono/Cassie/ASAP DONE
3. Cotton Kimono Robe/Jan/March birthday DONE
4. Boyfriend Socks/Fred/DONE

I just completed the socks this morning. Here they are modeled on my feet. They are for my husband's birthday next month. Obviously he's seen me knitting these off and on, so they are not a surprise. But I want them to be a real birthday present and I know that if I let him try them on I won't get them back. So he'll have to wait a few weeks.



I really liked knitting this pattern. Just enough going on to keep me interested but a pretty mindless pattern overall. I think they make a very handsome pair of socks! I

I'm not even sure if these count as an FO for purposes of this KAL, since I had one finished in early December. I'm fairly certain though, that I would not have had a second sock knit in time for his birthday had it not been for the KAL.

I've already started thinking about what I'd like to make in February, but for now I'm going to work on something for my favorite person to knit for - me!

Three down, one to go!

This is the first thing I've sewn in quite a while. It's the Kimono Robe from Amy Butler's book, In Stitches. I started it on Saturday and finished on Sunday. It's a gift for my friend's birthday in March.

All I have to do now is finish a pair of socks for my husband's birthday next month and my list is complete! Then I can focus on some knitting for me. I'm going to be casting on for the Nantucket Jacket.

Two down, two to go

I finished my second project of the month - a pair of Dashing fingerless mitts. They're a holiday '08 gift for a friend. Yay! It feels great to have something already wrapped up, so to speak.



I love the idea behind the first quarterly challenge, Marce! Knitting something each month for giving later in the year will help get us all off to a great start.



It's been great seeing everyone's projects as they are posted and it is keeping me motivated. Next up for me is making a partner for a lonely sock. I've also added to my monthly goals to quilt six circles on the Double Wedding Ring quilt I've been making forever.




It's been marked and basted for a year and a half. I've just been too chicken to attempt the free motion quilting for fear I'll ruin it. But this is the year I'm finally going to finish it for my daughter's bedroom, even if the quilting isn't perfect. My goal is to have it on her bed on Christmas morning.

Three Things

Wow! I'm impressed that there are already FO's out there. Kudos!

My January goals are to:

1. Knit a mate for the Boyfriend Sock for my husband's birthday next month.
2. Dust off the sewing machine and sew the Kimono Robe from Amy Butler's book, In Stitches, for my friends birthday in March.
3. Knit a pair of Dashing for a Christmas gift (Neal)
